Hey Jessica! That sounds like such an awesome PR firm. It definitely seems like something you would fit perfectly into. I never knew how similar PR and journalism was until this past year. They both go hand and hand. Its exciting though that PR is starting to fit into what you want to do. I say, definitely go for this 5s pr thing. You seem to feel passionate about it, which (Im sure) they will love. I know you would be a great addition to that firm! Great post!  Ill definitely look into 5s pr.

Hey Mikelle! Learned a lot from this post! Its nice to read an interview with someone who is in the event planning field, because I have an interest for event planning myself. When  I first think of event planning, I imagine weddings, parties, business events – but schools never cross my mind. But after reading your post, I realize that schools have SO many events every year. They are more in need of an event planner then most! So I found your interview to be very interesting. I think she will be an awesome connection to keep in your future! Especially if you are wanting to go into event planning.

Hey Michelle! I couldn’t agree more! I really think twitter can help benefit anyone – in both their social circles and business connections. Its also a great way to follow people we look up to, and might not know. I, myself, follow so many photographers that I admire through twitter. I am constantly reminded when they update their blog, or site. Twitter can help keep you “in the loop” with people you know and do not know. I definitely think its possible to reach great success through social media outlets, like twitter. It helps you reach the world, as well as helps you reach it. I have learned so many things from twitter, I can’t imagine NOT having it now. Great post! Love the photo by the way!

Hey Jennifer! Great post! I couldn’t agree more with you about commenting. I think commenting can benefit both the reader and the blogger. How will bloggers know anyone even reading if they don’t get comments? I have a photography blog myself, and I sometimes I do not know how people feel about it – because they do not leave comments. Of course I get discouraged – but then I find out through talking with people that so many of them are looking at my blog, but just never leave comments. Comments can truly help bloggers enhance and perfect their blog by knowing the feedback of others.

Hey Jessica! I definitely understand. Being a graduating senior myself, Im starting to see “the real world” sneaking up on me. Bills, jobs, student loans, etc are no fun to deal with. It is great to know there is a website that can help you in what you want to do. If only there was a website like that for every career. I know you will be fine, and end up with one excellent job! Who knows maybe you will end up traveling across the world (like we previously discussed!) Either way, I know you will be just fine. 🙂

haha, wow! So funny! That video is SO true. Maybe Im wrong, but I definitely do not remember black friday being like this a decade ago. I feel like it was just recently that stores started opening practically at midnight for their black friday sales. My sister and I (stupidly) experienced this this past black friday. We love Urban Outfitters and when we heard they were having a 50% all sale merchandise deal, we jumped on it! We got there right at the crack of dawn. It was packed. We waited in line for the fitting room for over an hour and the same amount of time to check out. I definitely questioned if it was worth it.

I will admit, I am a total Hills fan and read any article I see on these two. I have been a dedicated fan from the very beginning and it is unfortunate to see how drastic Heidi’s change has been – both physically and mentally. Spencer definitely changed her a lot – but I do not think he is the only one to blame. It is definitely the media as well. Heidi obviously let her fame get to her, which pushed her to put that first in her life and sacrifice other areas – her family, morals, etc. I definitely hope to see a change in both Heidi and Spencer in the future.

Hey Jessica! Thanks so much for providing this information. I had no idea! This will definitely be something that I will take full advantage of. It is definitely hard having my 2 emails plus facebook separate. It would be nice to have them all in one place. Do you know if they will be doing this for businesses on facebook? That would be awesome! It just makes me wonder, “what will they think of next?” Facebook seems to be like Apple. They are always ahead of the game, pushing new limits and exploring the unknown. This makes them the leaders while everyone else is trying to keep up.

I have never seen that before! How sweet! But im definitely thinking its planned. Things just seemed a bit TOO perfect. Not to take away from the creativity and charm. But, Im definitely thinking that is fake. But what a great way to advertise! I always think that great videos have such a high impact on people. If we like a companies videos or a video that mentions a company, we really will remember that company and reconsider them. Atleast thats how I am!

thanks so much for your advice! Public Speaking is definitely not my thing. I know that if I take your advice and really apply it – it can change everything! It is crazy how confidence can make or break how good of a public speaker you are! If I feel confident and don’t stress about making a good impression – I can actually do a better job! The only problem is, that rarely happens. haha. It is definitely something to work out though. Especially if I was to work in PR – good public speaking might be something I could really use.

I absolutely loved The Social Network! I thought everything from the actors to the movie makers did a wonderful job. The movie taught me a lot about the history of Facebook and the creators behind it. It definitely made me look at facebook in a whole new light. Right when I got home after seeing it, I looked up all of the “real” creators and read their bios. I even looked up their facebooks. It made the movie all so much real to me. It was a great movie and taught many about this little thing called “facebook”.

Hey Jessica! That is really interesting. Where did you find this out? I never really thought that toilet paper could NOT have the tube inside of it. But I guess life is just filled with surprises. I wonder if other toilet paper companies will do the same soon. It seems like a great way to protect the environment and go green – rather then wasting cardboard on something people just end up throwing away. I commend Scott for their creativity and desire to go “greener”.

This just seems to good to be true! But from reading your post, it seems legit! I would LOVE to take this class, just to see what it would be like. I love how Lady Gaga pushes limits and does not care what anyone thinks of her. I once saw an interview of her. The journalist asked, “Why do you dress the way you dress?” And she simply responded, “because its what America wants to see.” (Or something of that sort) I love that she gives America exactly what they are asking for. She definitely has made a name for herself because of her outrageousness. Although she has an amazing voice, I do not think she would have made it to fame without pushing these limits.

Oh how I wish I would have known about this! Having my mom work for the airlines makes it easy to fly cheap and last minute. If only I knew…On a different note, I think Jet Blue did a great job with this one! Taylor Swift is known for being an all American sweetheart – im sure they needed something like this to represent them and their airline. Especially after the flight attendant scandal that happened a few months ago. Its always good to replace bad thoughts in peoples minds with something new and exciting.

I wish I would have seen this! I might just look it up after this 🙂 I absolutely love the sound of music. Julie Andrews was my childhood hero as well. I always thought she was so charming and lovely. I am a big fan of musicals, so Sound of Music fits perfectly into just what I love. I definitely think it was a smart move waiting for the cast to be reunited publicly for 45 years. It makes it into an even bigger deal, and more people pay attention.

Title and author:  The importance of Internships – Michelle Paulino

Hey Michelle! I couldnt agree more! I interned this past summer at Anthropologie. I have always had an interest in displays and crafting. But didn’t necessarily know how to go about it. After finding this internship, I knew I HAD to do it. I am so glad I did! I learned so much about myself and the career I would like to go into. It really gave me that “real life experience” that no class in college could ever do for me. I think internships should be mandatory for all majors because it really pushes you to apply what you have learned into real life. So glad your internship worked out for you!!!

I have never seen any of the Harry Potter movies (dont hate!). But I can imagine the crowds that will be there and the excitement coming from it. I kinda relate it to the Twilight movies. Waiting for one of those movies to come out seems like Christmas. Everyone is excited and stays up late is see it first. It is amazing to think about how much money these movies are making. I wonder what makes them such a phenomenon. Even though I am not planning on seeing the movie, I am excited for the fans that did! Seems like so much fun!

Hey Jessica! I really enjoyed this post on social networking. I couldn’t agree more with everything you said! These social networking sites have totally changed the way I live. Without them, I would not know about half of the people I am friends with today. Social Media has also changed my life with my business. It has connected me with tons of clients and has benefited me and my business amazingly. I cant imagine life without facebook or any social media sites for that matter.

hahaha, that video! I am not 100% whats going on – but it makes me want to join in with the “Gleeks”. I have never watched an episode of “Glee”. but I have a feeling i would LOVE it. Even though I cant relate to this specific episode/show…I know the feeling! I am obsessed with a number of shows, and once something big happens (especially if its not a good thing) you will like your world just crumbled. As silly as that sounds. Why is it that these shows impact us so much?!

I knew it! It had to be fake! Like I said in a previous comment, It all seemed to be just slightly “too” perfect. I cant imagine a proposal going over SO well coming from so many different angles in “hidden” cameras. haha. But I do think the idea was great! I would love to be in on something like this one day – setting up a pretend scene to prove a point or open eyes to a new product. Seems like so much fun!!

Hey Jessica! Thanks so much for the post of information. Sometimes defining what a Public Relations Consultant, Public Relations Firm, or Public Relations in general can be kind of hard. Thanks for proving this once again!

I am a very visual person, so I happen to love infographics. it really lays things out and helps me understand what the person sharing the information is talking about.

Hey Jessica! Great post! I really enjoyed reading it. I couldnt agree more when you said, “Being irresponsible and not taking the code of conduct seriously can really hinder a company. Customers can loose faith in the business and therefore the corporation can suffer. Having a negative appearance in the public can be very damaging so a company must do everything in its power to act appropriately.” I definitely think its the corporations  responsibility to communicate with the public appropriately and watch their image.

I am like Jessica, and am not big into sports. So I have not heard of this situation nor any of these players. But I couldnt agree more if the point of this post. I think celebrities or anyone in the pubic eye should really watch the things that they say. Especially when they are bad mouthing other people in the spot light. It can really come back to them and make the situation even worse.

Hey Mike! Great post! I really enjoyed hearing your opinion on podcasts. Before this class, I never really listened to any. But now i realize just how amazing and convenient they are. You can really learn a lot about Public Relations and other things as well. Podcasts are really a convenient way to listen to something educational. You can listen to them in your car or in your home. I definitely think podcasts are going to be getting more popular in years to come.
